Food Allergen

A food allergy is an overreaction of immune system to a food or a certain substance in food. The body’s immune system sees the substance (usually a protein) as a threat and reacts by causing symptoms. Food allergy symptoms can vary from mild to severe. 

Food allergy reactions can be triggered by numerous foods. Among them, milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, soy, fish, shellfish and gluten containing grains are the mostly reported ones. At present there is no cure for food allergies. The only way to prevent food allergy is to avoid the intake of the food the patient is allergic to.

Food allergies are common in the developed world. The population suffer from at least one food allergy has significantly increased in recent decades. The issue thus has driven public and governments’ awareness, and legislation of related regulations has become urgent and important. 

Almond
